Chex Quest is a 1996 first-person shooter built on the Doom engine and given away free inside boxes of Chex cereal. Ralston hired Digital Café to rework Doom into something a parent would hand to a child: you play the Chex Warrior, and rather than killing the slime-covered Flemoids you zorch them back to their own dimension. It remains the only cereal-box video game to win an advertising Effie.
