The Colonel's Bequest is a 1989 Sierra On-Line adventure written and directed by Roberta Williams, subtitled A Laura Bow Mystery. It puts you on a Louisiana plantation in 1925 among relatives waiting on an inheritance, and then lets them be murdered one by one over eight acts while you wander, eavesdrop and take notes. Unusually for the genre, you cannot really lose — you can only fail to notice.
