About the Commodore Amiga

The Amiga arrived in 1985 with the Amiga 1000, built around custom chips that gave it color graphics, four-channel stereo sound and genuine preemptive multitasking years ahead of its rivals. It became the machine of the demoscene, of desktop video, and of a generation of European game studios. Commodore went bankrupt in 1994, and Amiga people have been arguing about it ever since.
