Winamp is a Windows media player released in 1997 by Justin Frankel and Dmitry Boldyrev at Nullsoft. It arrived just as MP3s did, and its skinnable interface, playlist editor and spoken startup line — "Winamp, it really whips the llama's ass" — made it the default way a generation listened to music on a PC.
